Apart from being Australia’s original (and, possibly, most loved) Bachelor, Tim Robards is arguably one of Sydney’s fittest locals. Not only can you find him working out at the Bondi bars most days, but he’s also a lover of yoga, fun runs and the odd Saturday brunch. Want to be as fit as him? *cough* good luck *cough* Try out his exercise regime, The Robards Method, which is based on a a strong philosophy of training smarter, not just harder, to create healthy training and eating habits for life. Sign us up, we say!

So Tim, tell us, what’s your all-time favourite Sydney view? I’d have to say either sitting on the grassy knoll at North Bondi at sunset, or watching the sunrise out of my apartment over the Bondi horizon.

Manly-Beach, Sydney

Manly Beach

Which are your favourite swimming and surfing beaches? I do love Manly for a change of scenery, but you can’t beat jumping off the rocks at North Bondi! The water is a degree colder and it’s a great way to wake up!

If we stalked you, where would we find you on Saturday mornings?
Ha! Well, I used to be in my clinic, but have recently given up my Saturday morning shift after six years. So now I’m reading the paper and exploring new brekky spots!

THE DEPOT Sydney-Cafe

The Depot, Sydney

Who does the best healthy brunch (and what should we order?)
The ‘Big Brekky’ at The Depot North Bondi, definitely, or try the ‘Bubble and Squeak’ at Tiger Mottle in Paddington. They’re my two favourites.

Where is best for a long lazy Sunday lunch?
China Doll! They have great cocktails, great service, great food and views!

Where is the most scenic place for a run and best place to practise yoga?
You just can’t go past running from Bondi to Clovelly or if you have the legs, go all the way to Coogee. And for yoga, I love Power Living, either in Manly near my office, or at their Bondi studio.

Tough-Mudder-Race

Tough Mudder Race

What is your favourite Sydney fitness event?
I love the City to Surf! But I completed the Blackmores Running Festival for the first time this year which was a cool experience. It was fun running across the bridge! I also love Tough Mudder and the Spartan Races on the outskirts of the city.

What’s your favourite day trip?
Palm Beach it’s a total change of scenery and soooo relaxing! The perfect escape!

Tim Robards Method

Where is the best place to train outdoors in Sydney? I love Bondi bars when it’s not busy… sometimes t’s actually best to train at night when it’s more tranquil and less crowded.

Lastly, can you spill the beans on an amazing place only locals know?
I’d say Bennett St Dairy… a cafe in Bondi with farm-to-table food. It’s so good!

Interested in The Robards Method but don’t know exactly it is? We asked Tim to break it down for us:  “Basically, it’s not a fitness program where you bust your butt for a month and get in shape, only to lose it again. TRM combines body-weight exercises and ring/suspension training for the perfect mix of cardio and strength training. So you don’t necessarily need a gym membership – all you need is somewhere to hang your rings! There’s a level to suit everyone – from beginner to athlete, and the workouts evolve as you progress to keep you challenged and motivated. Whether your goal is to lose weight, tone up and gain confidence… or try something new and learn new skills, TRM will make that happen.”
