Flow Athletic in Paddington is quickly cementing its place as Sydney’s coolest fitness destination. Yoga, strength classes and teacher training aside, they also run two main events. One is a 30 Days Clean Challenge, and the other is silent yoga, Flow After Dark, which is 90 minutes of Vinyasa yoga, practised in the dark using headphones so you can hear the instructions and the mellow beats of a awesome DJ (when we went it was DJ James Mark.) The next event is on May 30, so grab your tickets fast.
Logistics-wise, this isn’t an event for those looking for personal attention from a yoga teacher or a warm cosy environment. It’s more like yoga’s version of clubbing. There’s a bunch of fit men and women, dressed in tight-fitting clothes, in a darkened space, rocking out to some great tracks. The only difference is the lack of alcohol and the fact that everyone is wearing headphones (which are provided).
The class is easy enough for beginners, while more experienced yogis can add their own extensions. You need to bring your own mat and water bottle, and we suggest you organise a bunch of friends as well. The last Flow After Dark event sold out, and their next one will too. It’s definitely a fun night out, and one that is a bit different to your usual spin class.
