Ahh… New Year’s Eve. The night that some dread, some love and nearly everyone celebrates in some way or another. If you’re wanting to experience the fireworks on the Harbour, but avoid the crowds, the nightclubs and that panic of getting home before the 3rd of January on public transport, the legends on Cockatoo Island have an option for you.

They offer camping packages that start at basic (hello, next pay check) and end with luxe glamping. You’ll get a ridiculously good view of the fireworks (see pic below), be stumbling distance from your bed at all times and you’ll save a truck load of hassle of where to go and what to do.

What to do on New Years Eve in Sydney

If you’re on a budget, you can BYO everything with a bunch of your six closest mates and pay around $142 per person for two nights on the island (30th and 31st December).

Or if you want to drop a little more cash, go to the other end of the scale and glamp your heart out with the ultimate two-bedroom tent glamping package. For six people, it works out at $400 each for two nights (total) and that’ll get you a waterfront position with harbour views from your tent, your tent already set up when you arrive, camp beds, sun lounges, linen and towels, lanterns and eskies. Brilliant.

If you want to ditch your friends and go with your partner or BFF, there’s options for that too. But as per everything else in Sydney, get in quick as it will sell out. Find out about all the options, on Cockatoo Island website.
